Internet Printing Protocol Workgroup

The Internet Printing Protocol workgroup is developing standards for IPP-based multi-function services such as scanning and facsimile as well as 3D printing, is developing the PWG Semantic Model Print3d Service Schema, and is responsible for maintaining the IANA IPP, Printer MIB, Finisher MIB, and Job MIB registries. The workgroup also develops IPP Everywhere and manages the IPP Everywhere Printer Self-Certification program.

Weekly conference calls are held on Mondays at 3pm or 4pm US Eastern time. Announcements are made to the IPP mailing list.

3D printers let you print three-dimensional (3D) objects – jewelry, home appliance parts, toys, phone accessories, or anything else you can imagine.

The Digital Innovation Hubs offer 3D printers and a variety of design software.

You can download ready-to-print designs from websites such asThingiverseor use our design software to modify a design or create one of your own.

Printers are available on a first-come, first-served basis, or may be reserved by calling ahead.

A printing fee of $0.10 per 1 gram of filament (printing material) will be charged for each print job. An average print job is about 10 grams and costs $1 (10 grams x $0.10 = $1). There is a minimum charge of $0.10 per print job. A 13% tax is also applied to each print job.

You must have avalid Toronto Public Library card

You must complete a3D Printer Certification Courseshowing you know the basics of using the printer

Printing weapons, sexually-explicit materials and other items that contravene the librarysRules of Conductare not allowed

A maximum of two hours is allowed for each print job

You will not infringe any persons intellectual property rights, including copyright, trademarks and patents, or any other rights, including privacy and publicity rights, when using the 3D printer and other equipment and software at the Digital Innovation Hub

Classes are free, but online registration is required. Note: classes are popular and spots fill up quickly. If the class is full, you can add yourself to a waiting list; we will contact you if a spot becomes available.

Learn to design simple 3D objects using Autodesk 123D Design, Sculptris and OpenSCAD. Approximately 2 hours. Offered monthly. Registration required.

You must complete this certification before you can use our 3D printers. 60 minutes. Offered several times a month. Registration required.
